A.Svitojus “Peace and understanding among nations is the key to successful and sustainable agriculture

On September 7th Chairman of the Chamber of Agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania dr. Arūnas Svitojus participated in the annual “Bread of Peace” conference “Bread of Peace in Urban and Rural Areas – for a Better Knowledge of Europe”, organized by Romania in cooperation with the Federal Republic of Germany.

The conference, which was held remotely this year, was organized by Romania and opened by Gibried Schenk, CEO of FriedensBrot. The Ministers of Agriculture and Rural Development of Romania, Germany, Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia and Slovakia, who took part in the conference, emphasized the importance of European cooperation between the government and the non-governmental sector.

The leaders of the Bulgarian, Estonian, Hungarian, Polish, Slovak and Slovenian farmers’ municipalities reviewed the “Bread of Peace“ events and the discussions, cooperation experiences and future insights.

“Peace and understanding among nations is the key to successful and sustainable agriculture. By cooperating and implementing innovations, we can ensure sustainable farming, contribute to rural development processes and provide the city population with safe food, ” congratulating all the participants of the conference, dr. A. Svitojus.

“Bread of Peace” is a joint project of the 12 countries behind the “Iron Curtain” – Bulgaria, Germany, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Croatia, where agricultural ministers and NGO leaders meet.
